Decade
1970s Films as Colour Posters
The seventies are brown, orange and golden, and that is a compliment. The New Hollywood of the era loved warm, slightly grainy images: Chinatown, Taxi Driver, Barry Lyndon. On the poster that gives progressions in amber, rust and olive that look like a photo from the family album on light paper. If you know the decade, you recognise it instantly. A poster for cinephiles, for fathers, for anyone who says “films were better back then” and does not quite mean it.
