About moviestripes
moviestripes is a small project from Germany. Behind the shop is no corporation, but a software developer who loves films and likes building things.
The idea came on an evening in front of the TV: what if you could see a whole film on one sheet, not as a still but as the progression of its colours? The first test was a barcode poster for a favourite film. It then hung in the flat, and visitors asked what it was.
That experiment became six designs. We tried them, discarded some, reworked others. It mattered to us that the colours are right, because most barcode posters end up looking brown. And that you can put more than one film on a poster, because for couples, families and friends the interesting thing is not one film but the films.
We are still small. That means: when you email us you are writing to a person, and if something is wrong, we take care of it.
What we stand by
- Colours that ring true. We want you to recognise your film.
- Our own typography. We only print fonts with a suitable licence, and no logos or scenes.
- Little data. We collect only what an order needs, and set no tracking cookies.
